Larry Morgan's Biography
I grew up in a small town in Iowa. It had a lumberyard. As a kid I loved to play there. I was fascinated by the smell of wood, the sight of tools, the men who worked there, and the men who came in and bought lumber. I dreamed of one day owning my own lumberyard. THANK GOD I NEVER DID!
The building materials and construction industry demand hard work and long hours. The competition is tough, the risks are high, and you have to know how to run a business. So instead I went off to college and got way over educated, got lucky, and made some money. I retired young.
Then one day a fishing buddy asked me to help him sell his lumberyard in Idaho. I was hooked. I realized my mission in life was not to own a company but to SELL THEM. 25 years have gone by and I’ve helped put together almost 100 transactions. Perhaps more than any individual in the USA. And yes, I still like to fish and I’m still fascinated by the smell of wood and the sight of construction.
If you’re serious about positioning your company for a sale I’d consider it a privilege to help. It’s never to soon to start building a relationship with a would-be buyer that will one day result in a profitable sale for you and your family.
